In 2003, my son, John, and I returned to Kathmandu. This time we went on an organised trek to Goyko lakes.

The trek started in Lukla with a two day walk to Namche Bazaar. From there we walked up the long valley to Goyko Lakes at 5000 metres above sea level. From the tea house, we spent a morning climbing to the top of Goyko Ri (5500 metres). A description of this trek can be found at www.geocities.com/lukla_kala_patar/.

Our return route to Namche and Lukla took in the Tibetan monastery at Thyangboche.
