YMCA Challenges 2010

Raising money for disabled children

This year again I helped the local YMCA raise money for their Challenge Fund to support children and young adults with disabilities (Details). I helped to organise eight sponsored Challenges and took part in seven of them.

28th March

Completed the Y2Y run. A marathon distance (26 miles) over the North Downs - a very hilly and muddy route. Time: 5h 20 min.

2nd May

Ran the five mile Fun Run in 41 minutes in the pouring rain.

June

I led the fastest group on the Redhill to Paris cycle ride over three days.

July

I attempted the Welsh 3K (30 miles in Snowdonia in one day ascending all 15 peaks over 3000 ft). Weather was terrible. On the first day, we were forced down of  Snowdon by gale force winds and driving rain. Eventually completed 11 peaks  over two days.

Later in the month, we rode from Redhill to Gibraltar, 800 miles in 11 days.. Pictures
